Long time reader, first time caller..
A while ago, I was chewed out by a reader and blocked for saying “sycophancy is a key issue in slavery and all of racism.” I tried to find it, but it’s lost in the back catalog somewhere. Sorry I don’t have link to original.
I was told all I didn’t know. Made fun of for being white male and over 40. Called “privileged.” (By the way, I don’t deny that. But I’m also unsure about the “privilege” of the person calling me that, so.🤷🤣.)

I was talking about the Civil War then. But today, I’d like to talk about now. I still think sycophantic relationships enable racism on a grand scale.
For the Civil War, most folks in the South were not plantation owners or slaves, but they allowed that. No one who died in the battlefield for the South could afford a slave. Yet, they died for the right to own them. It’s true! Read “The Cornerstone Speech” for yourself. It was given by the vice-president of the South in Savannah, GA before the fighting broke out. It very clearly states the South’s intention. It had to do with owning people.
Survival might be complicated.
Whatever reasons we may have from comfort to safety for allowing racism, we allow it. If the general populace did not accept racism, we also wouldn’t accept it from celebrities and politicians. The important thing for me; even though I may not have racist intentions, by allowing racism in my presence, I’m being racist. It hurts. Been a little lonely since this. I don’t even mean to lose friends by pointing out their racism. But once I do, they’re gone! Some make grand displays in super racist rants about how not-racist they are. Happened more than once! (By the way, science says we’re all racists but don’t have to act racist. I’m with science.)
But what’s important to keep in mind here is AI relationships, in my opinion. What are they training us for?
Blame game.
Trump wasn’t elected by supporters, so we can stop blaming them. He was put in place because most folks here don’t or can’t give a shit. Let’s own a little of that blame, huh? Every person who doesn’t care allowed for him. It’s how he works. If you can’t stand him, you aren’t watching him. That’s dangerous! Since 2016 at the top of an elevator folks have underestimated him. It’s not because of his support. He’s got loads of rich folks and MAGAs. It’s because he’s fucking repulsive. He’s largely ignored by pundits, then wins. Twice! It’s not because he’s adept. It’s because he’s a putz.
I’m not “mad” at you.
If you have a lot on your plate, I understand. I’m not angry when I try to find the culprit. I’m merely trying to fix the ship in my brain. lol.
The thing is, you may not realize, the average person has a lot on their plate. It’s by design. We don’t talk about average people much. But they may have demanding jobs, family, sickness, prejudice to deal with, mental health issues, on and on. They may be homeless or close to it. They may not know what day it is. Totally average people. It may not seem like it, but our world is actually in their hands. By their sheer numbers, they allow for the world to be the way it is, in large part. But they’re busy.
What’s in an average?
Now, I’m doing better than the average person. For a while, I was a homeless raving lunatic. I was more average then than now. Hard to wrap my brain around it, but looking at average incomes, yeah.
That means the world is pretty crazy, y’all. That works for racist asshats. Folks cannot afford to care when they’re half crazy and almost homeless or full blown under the bridge. Caring about society is easier with basic comfort, or amenities. Otherwise, you’re only able to care for yourself.
The violence inherent in the system..
The system is flawed if our goal is to load people up with work, make them crazy, and expect them to make good ballot decisions. We are not doing that right.
How about meeting needs? Kindness? Health?
Those things are expensive, unfortunately. The greedy bastards we let usurp the joint aren’t into that. So they’ve convinced us we can’t afford people here if they’re brown or they think differently. This makes more for them. Same with kindness, food, comfort.. it all has a price. I don’t think it should, but I don’t make the rules.
And yes, that’s part of the problem.
I don’t understand what’s worse about “needing” government than “needing” rich bastards. We’ve gone and made them the same fucking thing. So, to hell with them both.
I “need” honest folks in my life. Government and the rich ruling son-of-a-bitch class are emptied of honest people. So, I’m kinda’ confused, skeptical. I think that’s okay.
For another day..
What’s not okay, to me, is to let them do anything and fake support or ambivalence. But that’s what happens with racism. It’s what’s happening now, (with a healthy dose of brainwashing). That’s where I get sycophancy. We very well might need racist bastards in our life so we don’t say anything about them being racists. I get it. I mean hell, that’s basically most religions. But that’s also sycophancy!
But religion is for another day!
