The Kintners new release, “Riding Waves.”

8 years or so ago..

Keri and I have a thing about “riding the waves.”

A long time ago, Keri and I were in a psychiatric ward. I had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I was in the hospital a while. She was very supportive.

A doctor told us we’d have to learn to ride the waves together to live and be happy. That was really good advice.

“Ride the waves together.”

You mean we can ride this out together?

Keri is on the raft with me. It’s not big enough for anyone else. I feel similar about my role in her life. If we see a big wave coming, we talk, prepare, make sure we have snacks. Maybe even clean house if there’s a sense it won’t get done in a while. Not to mention, a clean house and snacks rule.. especially if you’re feeling down.

Riding Waves features drastic changes. That’s like me. I’m so glad to be with Keri. I think all of our music celebrates us finding each other. Over 11 years together. 8 or so since diagnosis.

So this jam happened..

About the tune, I feel like I turned a corner in the mixing department. A friend, Jaime, gave me very useful and practical advice on tons of vocal tracks I’ll keep with me forever. Thanks so much, Jaime.

I’ve had the guitar riff since podcast days. It felt good to find it a home here. The drums are me just hitting djembe with different things. Brushes, mallets, hands. The choir was me and Keri doing our best. Once I heard it, I went for it. Keri was there with me. Kinda’ cool.

Stay tuned..

I hope you enjoy it. It felt great. I feel like it sounds great. Happy to present it.

Keri and I have been making a lot of music. We are working on a new big album. This happened outside of that, but also because of it. Lovely stuff.

I hope you have a great day. Enjoy a free download of the new jam by The Kintners at GetMusic.FM.
