Have you tried GetMusic.fm?

I love them! They’re a very affordable service that helps me toss out free BandCamp codes. Their newsletter and website are loaded with free downloads of indie music.

They mean something to me. I have not found a way that’s better to generate a conversation or two around a release. You can spend a lot more on ads and promo and not get results as good as them.

I’m a big fan of this DAW, Tape 16. It has a unique flow that agrees with me.. Possibly an old flow, I don’t know much about tape machines. But I like the way you wind up working using this one. It’s quick and it feels fun and productive.

Why they rock.

I think part of it is how affordable it is. (They even do it for free if you ask nicely, can verify.) But a main part is the community around free music they’ve built.

I have GetMusic.fm “regulars” now. (Accounts I recognize who download my stuff repeatedly, every new release.) That feels pretty cool.

The Interview.

On their website, GetMusic.fm had a form to fill out to enter to be selected for an interview. They said they’d read it and get back to me. And they did! I answered a bunch of their Djembe Funk questions and they picked me to publish on June 4, 2026. I’m so happy. Going to make it an event!

I am not the only one who thinks Tape 16 is fun.

Between now and June 4, I’m in Djembe Funk mode. I’m going to complete as much Djembe Funk music as I can and release it day & date with the interview, with GetMusic.fm codes!

The components fit together.

I’ve got lots of djembe jams. I got my cool little midi controller. I got guitars and basses, other percussion doodads. I’ve even got the TAPE 16 DAW if I want. Lots of options. Lots of sounds.

MIDI Controlled.

I got a new MIDI Controller. If you have MIDI sounds and don’t have one of these bad boys, don’t be like me and wait so long to get it. I made this using all finger drums and keys, Logic Pro stock midi sounds and some fun mixing. Exploring. I love it.
