Texas checking in.
We got ourselves an election here in Texas. Big names! Greg Abbot, Ken Paxton, John Cornyn, and more on the Republican side. On the democrat side we have some interesting names too. Jasmine Crockett, James Talarico. All celebs by now in Texas. Maybe nationwide. We also have Ted Cruz, but he’s not in the hot seat…. so we don’t have to talk about him. (He’s from Canada and acts like a dipshit in Texas. All there is, really.)
The alarm candidates.
All these folks from Texas have an alarmist streak I don’t like in politics. I like sober. Level-headed. Methodical. Texas is like, “fuck off, Kelly!” Lol.

Go Dems.
I think the democrats got an edge here. Just a gut feeling. They seem more “real” in their alarms. “Hey, you can’t do that!” (Alarm aimed at Republicans.)

If hanging on to more money you didn’t earn sounds appealing, consider the Republican Party.
The republicans have the same alarm, but in reference to massive groups of folks like the LGBTQ community. Muslims, recently. Poor folks, daily. Immigrants. Educators. Bathroom designers. Flood victims. Prisoners and air conditioning. Scientists. Small businesses. The republicans got beef with all these folks and more.. the democrats just got a beef with republicans.

One’s mean and dumb right now, one isn’t, (mostly).
I’m not a republican or a democrat, as people who read this blog may know. But I often vote with the democrats because they aren’t as stupid as republicans. Really. That’s the reason, but I’m not rich.
Small government? Really? For who?
How can you claim you want a small government and want government to keep an iron thumb on everyone with a setback? How can you claim to love Jesus yet love no people he had to have loved in Africa? The Republican Party has been a governmental front for protecting rich folks assets for a long time. They’re great at it. They even get poor folks to vote for them by saying folks are after their jobs and such nonsense. They manipulate people using hate, Jesus, money, anything they can.
In Texas a way out involves a vote for democrats. Only way.
Are the democrats much better? Actually, yes they are. Not in just what they say, but the record doesn’t lie. Democrats are better locally and nationally with political changes I’m hoping for. They have their issues too. I’m not voting for Talarico, for example. I hope no one does, to be honest. The dude frightens me. But comparing Abbott, Paxton, Cornyn, even Talarico has a better record. All those old republicans have even more frightening records. Time for them to go. (They’re easy to compare of Ballotpedia.org)

My MAGA pals.
The only reason democrats have a sliver of a chance today is because the republicans fucked up Texas so bad and they hammer down on Trump, even having Trump speak here. Trump isn’t as popular with my MAGA acquaintances as he was a few years ago. Good for everyone.
What I’m hoping for.
I’d like less Jesus in elections. I’d like sober debate. I’d like the racist shit to go away. I’d like logical application and methodical plans. Not today! But maybe tomorrow! Also war and Epstein files both suck. Would be nice to see accountability get popular.
Thanks, Dad.
I can’t help but be excited on election days. I’m into this politics thing, my whole life. I blame good parenting from my father. He talked way below his level to me while growing up to help me understand things. That’s good work, right there. He could have filled my head with Jesus or bullshit. Nope. He opted to try to teach me how the world functions best he could. As an adult, I’ve become more and more grateful for that.
Why do they spend so much money on elections if they don’t matter?
Voting is still important. Sorry if you don’t think so. But these millionaires and billionaires wouldn’t spend so much money trying to influence the outcome of an election if votes didn’t matter. That’s not how they get richer. They get richer by getting into politics. ““Donating” to politicians and elections is man’s rite of passage.” A rich senator from Texas told me that when I delivered the yard signs for his campaign in an 18 wheeler. He told me I could have one as a “tip.” He’s dead now. One less thing to worry about.

I need a shirt.
Side note: some of my “intel” comes from white dudes assuming I’m like them. It gives me a lot to think and write about. I want to have shirts made that say “not with them” in a way that points fingers at fellow white males. But I also enjoy writing, breathing. Watch this space.
If you don’t know your senator, how can you vote for or against them?
Who do you vote for? I honestly think if you don’t know these characters, it’s fine to sit it out. I don’t think it’s right to participate unless you pay attention. It’s a lot like playing a song without reading the room. If you’re not going to be a politics fan, I wish you wouldn’t vote. You’re likely bought, don’t have good information, and working for enemies…even if you don’t want to.
Unfortunately voting is like the celebratory day of all that time paying attention. Don’t cut in line, crack a book. Then vote, silly.
Start off here?
Learn who Supreme Court justices are. Learn your senators and representatives. Learn the tenets of the parties. Learn famous party members of the past and what they were famous for. Learn issues and ballot measures and who they’re helping, or fucking over. You need all that to vote responsibly. They know it. They’re betting you won’t do that. It helps them win if you don’t learn about them.
Not participating is a vote for oppressors.
The folks in power now bet on most folks not voting as much if not more than their MAGA red hat voters. It isn’t that so many folks care about what’s happening, it’s that so many don’t. The non-voter is very selfish in this regard. I’m sorry, they just are.🤷 “Freedom isn’t free” a MAGA told me once. I agree! Your country needs attention, your state, your community. If you aren’t at least giving them that much, you’ve earned not having a say.
If I didn’t want to get involved in helping someone who was oppressed, I wouldn’t vote. Republicans are good at incorporating this mentality in their win strategy. They haven’t really figured out how to win votes, even. They’re simply good at getting folks to stay home. That’s a vote for them too.
I know who I’m voting for. Now a shower.
Well, I’m not staying home. I’m going to vote for democrats. The Republicans here are just downright criminals. Keeps me up at night sometimes. Gotta’ do my little part.
Return to home.

I look at Ballotpedia often and see the votes. I make my own character assessment based on the boxes these folks check for a living, not what they say on a microphone. I strongly encourage checking Ballotpedia often for what the politicians actually do as opposed to what they say.
You can even see a sample ballot. I like this for no surprises in the booth. I know what I am doing by then. Handy tool especially for down ballot measures, which are important in local politics and often non-partisan. You are not wrong to look forward to the measures more than the candidates in many cases.
See you in line.
