If only..
I think I give off the wrong impression because I don’t talk much about work. Folks have told me stuff like, “well, I don’t get to sit around all day and think up music.” They think because I don’t talk much about work, that I’m allergic to it or something. They have even gone as far as projecting on me something I’m not because it isn’t my personality to bitch about work online. Online is for bitching about politics and music. So.
My work.
Keri works where I sometimes do a little work. So I don’t talk much about that work because I want her job to be smooth.
I do music work, boring stuff, but work.
Between those two things, I’m pretty busy. Sorry if it’s not a real jobby job and doesn’t count for you.. It works fine for me.
I’m a contractor, (for a couple things).
I’ve found the flexibility I need as a bipolar in contracting. I even was a contractor as a trucker! Had a Volvo rig! Lost my ass. I try to never sign up for more than I can do in a short amount of time. (“Try”, goals.) Helps me live. Been called lazy. Also been called hyper. I’m both of those things. So contracting is a form of work I can get behind.
I am not my job(s).
I think judging folks based on the work they do, or even the work I imagine them doing is pretty stupid, just gotta’ say that. Most of us have to make money, how you get yours is only my business if you share that with me. If you don’t, I just think it’s none of my business, because it isn’t. I don’t think bad things about the holes I can’t fill in your life. I might wonder about them, but not negatively.
Here’s the deal though, the kicker; even if I did nothing at all, what’s it to you?

Superiority and being superior.
Folks look down their nose at folks who don’t have to work. I look up to them. Goals! But more than that, I don’t know fuckall about them if I only know them online. I only know what they reveal. That’s hardly anything!
Van Halen is more fun, duh.
Believe it or not, many folks don’t like work much. It’s true! So when they get online, they aren’t looking to talk about painting an interior, they want to talk Van Halen. Who can blame them?
Just because you may want to talk about the forms you fill out or the company you built, even those of us who’ve built companies can find all that boring. It’s a niche thing. Glad it’s there for you, I guess. But Van Halen!

“Some of us have work to do.”
More times than I can count, I’ve been told “some of us have to work to do.” Look, just because you can’t match my energy for music and hold down a job like I do doesn’t mean I don’t work. I work plenty.
That “some of us have to work” thing is a judgement on someone you’ve made in your head, not actually me. Just an imaginary friend. I’m a real guy, who works!
Work is fine, (just boring).
I like work, to be honest. I feel it in my body, listen to music. I get to see things I think are neat. I get to help Keri sometimes. All good stuff. I get out, get fresh air, get moving. Feels good. There, all about my work you’ll get.
I think work is necessary for my brain at the moment. I need it more than it needs me. Lol. The extra oxygen and moving around, the quick decisions, and high fives, all help out everything.

Work is not part of me assessing you. I tend to gravitate to folks who aren’t assholes.
But I don’t think you’re less than if you’re able to not work. I think that’s rad if that’s what you want. I don’t think work is required for a full life. I don’t think it’s required for status, obviously. I just think it’s required in some judgy folks’ brains. Sorry, judgy folks, you’re wrong.

Are you a person? We’re good.
People do not have to work to prove their worth. They’re people. All they need. They may think they’re proving something, that’s their game. But it’s not my job to judge it. I got enough work as it is.
