What’s the deal with apathy???
I’ve met so many folks who’ve given up on society. They don’t vote, don’t watch any news, don’t research, don’t participate in anything, and they’re blaming the world for their problems. I think that’s hilarious.
Kids who don’t go to school fail, I verified that myself. Meetings with zero attendance get cancelled. Classes with zero interest get cut. Meals on wheels doesn’t even happen unless folks participate. Yet, it’s the system.
Why break things for everyone because you are pissed?
Folks, the system is there. You apathetic people are the ones breaking it. What’s worse, by not participating, you make the system vulnerable to subterfuge and attack. Apathy ruins it for everyone, not just the apathetic jaded souls.

A question for apathetic folks.
What I’d like to know from the apathy folks is why you think that you not participating helps or is worthwhile. There’s no history to suggest that. There’s no science to suggest it. There’s no data for it. So why do you think it’s okay? Because it feels good? I did cocaine before. It feels amazing. Wonderful. Doesn’t mean it’s “right.”
I understand we have a lot on our plate but do you know why that is in the first place? Greed and apathy. Why not be a “good guy?”
Documentary Rec.
I watched a documentary last night my friend told me about. (Marc Schuster is good people.)
It’s called “Join or Die.” It’s still on Netflix but it’s leaving soon so hurry, it’s worth it.

The documentary is about Robert Putnam. The idea according to him is called “Social Capital.” He reminds me of Alexis de Tocqueville. (That French dude who toured the U.S. and wrote a book called “Democracy in America” mid-1800’s) He found that our groups and clubs knit us together. He was right! The documentary had data. Data is important! What “feels” right isn’t always right. In fact, I bet it usually isn’t! But that’s a feeling, so I can’t say for sure!

“Who” is the issue, at least we agree on that much.
If you are so jaded, you don’t see a point in even trying, you’re a problem! The data shows without a doubt, it’s you people that drag the world down along with a handful of greedy sons-of-bitches that count on you nullifying the good that others do. You’ve not only given up on yourself, you’ve given up on the world. You’re most likely manipulated by corporate bastards who you help into office too. Sorry about your bad luck, but can you snap out of it?
That is not how the world, especially democracy works. It’s an “all hands on deck” kind of sport that keeps things going. If the hands don’t show up for work, then folks with money take advantage of the holes in the system. Like now.
Nothing’s perfect. I’m fairly certain that’s mostly true.
It’s not perfect. I’m not that dumb. But when folks are represented, and suffering is lessened for many, it’s damn sure better than this nonsense.
If you want to be part of the solution instead of dead weight, try participation in social functions. Any of them! Could be cars or politics or feeding someone!
About silly voter apathy.
Also consider voting. I’ve talked to maybe over 100 folks in my life who see no point in voting. That right there is giving your vote to a billionaire, and they don’t even thank you for it. You may not think a vote is worth much, but billionaires do! What in the lord Satan’s name does that tell you? Yea! Voting matters! I don’t care who you vote for (kind of a lie when criminals are on the ballot), but not voting is a vote for fascists and corruption. That’s the system we have. You’ll never get to change it by not participating in it.🤷
The game we never made.
Politics has two major teams here. We don’t get a say in the game. It’s totally plausible to support your team for an entire lifetime and never get a say in the line-up. They bring you joy? That’s a fine deal. But if you don’t show support, they might lose or move to another city. Folks have no problem with the sports system, I mean, I guess. I hate sports, so I don’t know for sure. They accept it, seems like. Those are the sports they’ve been dealt.
Now when it comes to politics, if folks don’t get their way or a win, they become jaded. Non-participatory. Where’s the sport in that? It’s called losing. Even winners lose sometimes. Ask Trump. In many ways, he’s lost more than he’s won. Is he a winner or loser? Fun thinking!
It’s about being seen so what you care about gets recognized. Duh.
You might not get to make the rules for everyone, but your participation is vital for a system. The system can’t work for you if it can’t see you. Not voting, avoiding news, telling folks to stop talking about politics, how’s that working for you?
Sing, don’t talk. I’ve been told this a lot of times. Still talking.
Musicians are told all the time to not talk about politics. I welcome it. Even if I don’t agree! I like that folks care and want to talk. I care too! Many times, I’ve bonded with folks who see things differently not because of our views, but what was in our hearts. Frankly, that’s the only way out of this mess, I can see.
Return to home.
