First, it doesn’t make any sense.
A lot of folks voted for government to be run like a business. I have never gotten this. If a business struggles, they lay off the workforce. Why in the world would anyone want a government like that? Where does the “profit” even go? How do you feel security that way? And really, if government was like a business, why is it hanging on to the dead weight politicians?

We endured a corporate attack. Why not say it?
The massive lay offs and cuts were business moves. Very impersonal. Traumatic. But it’s okay if it’s business. Thing is, it isn’t. It’s public service. That’s not a profitable venture, unless you’re corrupt.

It’s not just church and state, business and state too.
They’re very different; business and politics, well they were. Now there’s not much difference at all. That’s one way of knowing fascism has arrived. Mussolini described fascism as a “marriage of corporate and state.” Want government run like a business? Sure, it just means I call you a fascist. Sorry if that bothers you, literally the definition of the word. I am not in the business of making words up too. I’ve thought about it. It’s the word I want.
Business has a profit motive. Service has an improvement one. They aren’t to be confused for a reason. Should you mix them together you lose integrity in the political parties and have one major party, the money party. Fascism is also described as “one-party rule,” in the dictionary.
About admiring folks with insane amounts of money.
Why do we like big business anyway? Is it that we admire folks who make tons of money? Our notion of success involves being wealthy? How’s that fair to a teacher, or musician, or a server? Do wealthy people not enjoy those professions too? How did our system of rewarding innovators make someone like Musk a trillionaire? It’s probably out of hand, you think? How about we admire relentlessly pursuing improvement for the future generations to run with, if any? And we shouldn’t have billionaires at all, let alone trillionaires. If you’re so rich that you’re a national security threat when you have a lousy day, you’re too fucking rich.

What about your value?
But what about our own worth if we are to be selfish for a minute? Isn’t everyone reading this worth more than being tossed aside and shaken down? Many of us don’t even know what we really want or can do because it takes our energy just to navigate the day and put food on the table.
Life ain’t fair.
Most of us have absorbed the awful sayings about life not being fair to a fault. I hate it when folks talk as though the person stiffed, abused, ignored, or victimized had it coming. “Should have known life ain’t fair,” they’re saying. As if the criminal or abuser or apathetic have no culpability. By saying “life’s not fair” to a victim, you’re saying the asshole gets off. That’s what’s not fair. Ugh.

About the United States Postal Service.
If you need motivation to vote without making anything up, I’d just look at the post office. There might be one near you! You see, that’s the government doing amazing work. I know. Keri had a route once, it’s grueling sometimes. One of the greatest deals on the planet, send this way the hell over there for not much money. These fucking billionaires think it has to run on a profit and they’re going private. It’s called the “United States Postal Service.” It runs for us, not billionaires. Politicians are divided up in my mind the same way. Same divider. And yep, fucking fascism.
