It sounds better with rehearsing.
Before projects, I practice up a lot. I don’t like the sound of struggling usually, (not always), and I want easy and smooth. It took me a while to become convinced I couldn’t just snap everything to a grid and fix things in the computer. Over time, I’ve become a “fix it in the performance” type of guy. One reason is this video I made on a whim.
I rehearse these days.
I was rehearsing for a recording project and feeling hot. So I turned on the camera. It helps me now, even over a year later. I gauge where I’m at before a project. If I’m as loose and cozy as I am in this video, I’m on track. Not perfect, of course, but I feel good when I hear it. I go for that. It sounds “easy” to me. And by the time I turned that camera on, it was.
A fun draft.
The final product.
In case you’d like to hear how it turned out, enjoy.
The song is on Bandcamp on the “Life Ain’t Worth a Song” EP by The Kintners.
This weekend I’m rehearsing for a studio trip in August. Hope I get to turn the camera on again. Have a great weekend.
Return to home.
