I used to want to believe.
When I was younger I sought god. Never found him, but I did come up with some interesting experiences and met some thought-provoking people.
I met a Baptist preacher in Wichita Falls, TX once who took me aside and talked to me. Told me about not heaven, not Jesus, not compassion, not service, not even sacrifice. He said I needed to know about hell.
He said “hell is the biggest motivator for me. I don’t want an eternity there so I fly right.” I tried to tell him that he was telling me he was still an asshole, but he didn’t get it.

Key:
If the story of Christ makes you so fearful of hell it changes who you are, you did not interpret it correctly.
See, Christ is about compassion. Sorry you had to learn this from an atheist. Christ isn’t about saving dumbasses from the devil. He’s about saving dumbasses from themselves, like this preacher I talked to.
If you being afraid of punishment is your reason for not hurting folks, you’re still an asshole. Christ has not changed you. You have not been moved by his story, try again.
Ever feel like a good guy before?
Newsflash: “good” folks don’t want to hurt anyone just because. No threat of hell required. Some of us might like helping folks because it makes us happier and helps us sleep better. Some might like helping folks because they feel blessed and obligated to share the blessings. The folks who help because they’re afraid of hell if they don’t? Stay home.
It’s your church or religion, it’s up to you. I have a religious background from preacher uncles to a Catholic monastery for highschool. You don’t have to believe me on this, plenty to read that backs me up. It’s not my thought or anything. Just my words.
Old Tucker Carlson..
One time during the election, Tucker Carlson said he was attacked by a demon. He said it left scratch marks. He said he was lucky to make it. Tucker Carlson Claims a Demon ‘Mauled’ Him While He Was Sleeping
I bring this up because this is a lame attempt at bad people to reinforce the “fly right stay out of hell,” notion that preachers promise. It’s all made up, just like hell is. Why? Ask Tucker. He got a lot of press for it. He’ll talk about it.
Why not make folks (including yourself) feel better and have what they need?
Why not let your compassion and passions determine your next move? Why not feel compelled by human suffering to try and stop it? Are people afraid of heaven too? I’m not sure that’s how it is supposed to work.
Return to home.

Audio by yours truly.
Note: today is also the first audio version day. If I’m home with a microphone, I’ll read my entry when done and post it in audio format at the bottom. Sometimes I want to read, but audio works better. Some folks can’t see well or read well. It just makes sense to do since it’s easy for me. Sorry it took so long to think of it. Any suggestions, send me an old email. [email protected] . Thanks!
