Let’s talk about guns (among other things).

I have plenty of vices. I have favorite brand names. But I’ve never liked guns. I had to carry one for a while, still didn’t like it.

Guns in the news, again.

Tennessean newspaper reporting this morning that kids in their school system are to undergo basic gun knowledge courses. C’mon, Tennessee, let’s keep Texas the dumbest fucking place to live. It’s not a competition.

Teaching children about guns at school is a complicated victim blame. Both sides of the aisle do this. In fact, I’d say it’s something they have in common and often sound the same talking about. So you get my 2 cents today.

Saw a movie once where Antonio Banderas had a guitar gun..pretty fun.

Why give up so easily?

Making the effort to prepare kids for shooters means you give up on the shooters part. Why is that? We have barely tried anything. It doesn’t make any damn sense. Unless you like guns, or the NRA, it makes sense from the perspective of their bank accounts.

Teaching kids about guns isn’t addressing the shooters. The shooters are who we want to stop. It’s preparing them for the likelihood of it happening again when it never should have happened in the first place. It may even influence children to buy guns. That’s the opposite of what we want. If we’re going to ever talk about groomers again, it has to be said the gun nuts rank at the top of that list.

Ever heard of just about every where else?

Every other “civilized” society said “no guns,” or “there’s going to be rules.” America says “hey kid, ever shoot an M16?”

One thing I notice about religion and gun nuts is they have a tendency to start them young. That’s a main reason I stay clear. I do not need anyone who needs kids to believe things or shoot things.

The Sandy Hook thing.

What’s sad is the folks who hate guns like me just give up on the issue. Not only do guns not get regulated that way, nothing does.

Every time a nationally covered shooting occurred back when I was on social media, folks would mention Sandy Hook and how legislation will never happen. I was in a hotel at the time of Sandy Hook watching news. I remember a 92 percent nationwide approval for gun legislation. But then the NRA stepped in, couldn’t have that.

It’s very possible that if you feel strongly about your guns, you bought the hype. The NRA needs you!

I just included this photo because I have no idea what the photographer is saying and feel okay with that.

It has to do with maturity.

If you aren’t mature enough to debate guns I don’t think you should have one. The reason you want them is because you like them. But making up or spreading all the bullshit the NRA says makes you the tool, not the weapon.

If you want to help the gun problem in America, it involves getting rid of guns. I don’t know why folks sound so defeatist or lame when they hear that. The argument for too many guns means nothing without accepting that there must be less.

I prefer the malt liquor.

Saddle up, pardner.

So you, out there, even if you’re tired of gun nuts, (and I feel you there), you still have work to do. Don’t let them get away with their grooming bullshit, their lies, and let them think they “won” or they’re “right.” That’s a battlefield right there. It’s not a time to shrug your shoulders and mosey on home. It’s time to educate them.

One thing that sucks about gun nuts is they’re stupid. They can’t research anything and they selfishly put their needs above anyone else. We have to own that, not distance ourselves from it. We’re all in it together, even stupid murderous assholes.

If you can’t look at what the rest of the world does that works to help folks and adopt that mindset, you have more than gun problems. You’re stupid. I can help that. I don’t have a gun, but I do have a pen. And we all know what they say about that.
