If you know it’s bad why do you still use it? (A rant).

If you could just see yourselves at home, or in public.

I’ve had an overwhelming and exasperating desire to get friends and family off social media for a few weeks just to see what it’s like when everyone else is on social media. You don’t notice until after several weeks the impact on energy, situational awareness, and influence. But when you do notice it, that shit is gone.

“Why do you hate socials so much, Kelly?”

Just this week X exposed the country of origin of popular MAGA influencers and many weren’t from the USA. What this means is if you’re on X, you’re entrenched in mostly a made up world. How the fuck do they know what it’s like? Why do they care so much unless it makes you vulnerable?

We’ve known forever about AI and META. Not only will robots comment on your shit, they’re happy to be your therapist or best friend. Now seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people?

Zuck even uses canceled accounts like mine to improve AI accounts and make them more realistic. How in the fuck is that right?

DuckDuckGo Search on META news. (It isn’t pleasant.)

My personal experience with dangerous people has convinced me they seek vulnerable targets. They are not after a challenge and they often have patience. They will wear you down.

Dangerous folks LOVE vulnerable folks.

This all makes us extremely vulnerable. If we are not looking, they’ll steal everything. Even your personality. They need it for their paying customers. Want to know why they’re so rich? It’s not because of the users’ money. It’s because they sell users’ preferences and information. It’s not pleasant. It’s not honest. It’s actually quite sinister.

These billionaires who own social media have enormous power and influence to change your perception of the entire world. I wouldn’t let them have it. In order to do that, you might consider a break from social media.

Look around

I’ve walked into restaurants and businesses and every single person was on the phone, even employees. Wanna’ know from a survivor how vulnerable that makes you? In public? I could have robbed anyone. Now, imagine if folks aren’t even aware in their own skin how vulnerable they are, how vulnerable they must be online. You’re looking at issues.

The fight in my head about what I just said involves someone saying they are not vulnerable online because that’s where their attention goes. To that, I would just like to say your “attention” goes to a tiny high school in a giant metropolis. If you are only focused on your little campus, you’re vulnerable.

They say not to use the phone while driving. It’s distracting and can cause accidents. So by all means, use it every minute you aren’t driving. lol.

I mean, seriously, no one blames X for a bunch of trump votes? And we know they’re foreign accounts? Seriously?

Trump used those foreign accounts on X to win an election. That doesn’t piss y’all off? Why do you still use it? Why do businesses, news outlets, and activists bother with it? They aren’t talking to the folks they think they are. They may not be talking to folks. Doesn’t anyone see this?

It’s super frustrating when friends and family get wound up on social media about stuff that isn’t even true. I hardly stand a chance of convincing any one of a different reality than they’re presented online. I’m a real fleshy, in their face, in many cases we have known each other forever, and I can’t compete with Elon or Zuck, despite having been addicted for a long time myself.

I’m sorry I’m not the drug you’re looking for. But if you don’t look around, we’ll lose everything.

DuckDuckGo search for “X news.” (Also not pleasant.)
