‘Kill them with infinite choices’ isn’t a very nice strategy at all.

Decisions and options.
Most musicians don’t seem to realize they’re optional. Several factors go into someone listening. Mood, time, opportunity, what friends are there, sound system. Listeners have lots of choices. Near infinite choices. Why listen to us, for example? Why listen to anyone?
Decisions are an inescapable part of life. Not only do we have to choose what to eat and wear, we choose what to be entertained by. We choose from options provided by big companies typically wanting a monthly subscription. What many artists don’t seem to realize is folks get awfully tired of making decisions by the end of the day. Many times, the last thing they want to do is think about what they want.

Did you know every songwriter is an expert? Feel it, songwriters?
A musician has the power to tell folks what they want. However, a lot of musicians online forfeit the power of their music, instead opting to get folks to listen to their friends. It’s somehow rude to talk about what you create all the time even though you know your creations better than any other music, or any other person knows your music too. You’re an expert on it. That means something.

When your friends make music too.
I love my friend artists. I work with them. I’m here for them if they need me. But they all understand I’m an artist too. I’m not up to some grand strategy. I’m not manipulating anyone. The way we do it is easy to share our songs and find our friends on our “playlists” tab on this site.
It should be said, our website doesn’t require a setup, a user/pass, captcha, none of that sh*t. It’s tiring. I don’t want folks to feel burnt out before they hit the homepage.
Decisions are kinda’ like fishing. It’s fun for the first few hours but after a while, I’m ready for something different. Musicians in particular make a ton of decisions in the writing and recording of songs. I do not want to add to that. I just want easy.

Musicians are gods, not value meals.
If you aren’t telling folks they want your music, I’m interested in your strategy. I’ve always enjoyed the part of being an artist that says, “listen to this sh*t.” I consider that duty.
Musicians are able to write about themselves in ways that relate to other people. Personally, I do not take that lightly.
Honesty is hard. But it makes the crowd go wild.

Choices are everywhere. Most of them are bad. Most of them have a subscription. Most of them cheapen the music experience. Why not be honest and say you are better than that? A ton of you really are. It’s not wrong to tell the truth, yet. Let’s keep it that way.
return to home.

About choices and indecision: “Decision paralysis.”
I hope you are able to help folks realize you are their only choice, not simply an option among millions of faceless musicians. We are not flavors of ice cream. At least I’m not.
