One of the things that drives me nuts about living under a fascist regime is collective memory. It’s crazy. It’s like folks don’t even remember as far back as the RNC 2024.
Folks are hard-pressed to remember a hush-money trial where we got to hear Trump on tape suggest throwing someone in front of a truck. Oh, he also raped and was cruel to women, gavel down. For a fact. Not an accusation.
It’s ‘Whack-a-mole’.
The sheer quantity of this regime’s transgressions means no one but hardcore score-keepers can keep track. That means they’re getting away with shit by the sheer amount of shit they’re getting away with. Messed up, ain’t it?
If the Trump regime is like a circus, they make you spend your money on whack-a-mole. The barrage of “hey! It’s me! Over here!” is exhausting. Trying to keep it all out is exhausting too. It also makes one forget about the last mole when a new one pops up. This is an old trick, but it works.. obviously.
If your opponent is tired and confused, yay! Easy battle. All this is.
Who gets your energy?
Since I’ve quit social media, one thing I can’t help but notice is I have more energy. I think this is by design. MAGAs wear you out just talking to them. It totally makes sense corporations would too, if they get what they want doing it. They do not care if they’re tiresome.
Don’t let them wear you out. Keep some of your energy for yourself. You need it right now.
Is it keeping in touch or keeping tuned out?
Since I’ve quit, I’ve made a lot of music, landed a lot of work, and had energy for it all. You too can have this. As far as I know the way to get it is telling social media to take a hike. That was the catalyst for a lot of music work. Made me look local, call old friends, fish for new artists differently.. and I got bites!
You don’t need billionaires to have a good time. It’s quite possible they might need you for that, if they weren’t soulless coin counters.
Don’t forget you’re nothing but a battery to a lot of rich folks. That’s your purpose in life to them. If someone makes you feel like a battery, they’re getting your energy. That’s energy not going into your music. When I quit socials, I got a check mark over in the win column. Music got better and I got busier. It’s a tough decision, but I stand by it.
Is it keeping in touch or making decisions about what you like?
Social media is a way of keeping in touch where your conversations are stolen. The point of it isn’t even keeping in touch. It’s advertising. Every click and scroll is data used to change your perception. It’s just not worth it if you want what you need, not simply what you prefer. What you need isn’t always going to be what you prefer, in my case. This has changed the world, not for the better.
Getting my mind back has been wonderful. It turns out I need it. I hope you give it a shot.
