Twitter ISD
I started off on Twitter 10 or so years ago after getting fed up with Facebook the first time. I deleted before Elon took over. Not my thing. It’s fine if it’s yours, I even understand. But it’s just not “where it’s at.”
Social media is a lot like high school. You may be popular there, but as far as around town you’re just a kid. If you need the boost from your friends, it’s there for you. But if you want to jam with folks at other schools, they make that difficult. They have their school too.

Threads Pride
We all know about “school pride” and I think folks bring that to social media too. It’s infuriating because people who own social media don’t care about you. In fact they want your data for the clients they care about. Why be proud of that? Did you actually learn that in school?

School takes time.
I record and utilize a lot of music contractors who don’t have social media. They’re too busy. They have to be everywhere at once and in key. They don’t even have the brain-space for notifications, feedback, updates. That’s all amateur stuff. They just don’t have the time. Music doesn’t pay a whole lot, so they have to do a whole lot of it. They’re in Rolodexes of producers like me. Not making posts hoping I see them. I won’t.
Are you wanting what socials rob from you, from socials???
Isn’t that odd that most musicians I ran across on social media wanted that kind of life that those without it had? If I talk about social media a lot, it’s because I think it’s bad, mmkay?
I hope everyone finds a groove and I wish everyone success. I’d be dishonest if I said I thought social media was as a part of that. Looking back thinking about numbers and stuff to say all the time….Thinking about relevance…Getting a notification.. I suppose it’s worth the experience, but it wasn’t worth ten years.

A bit about Bandcamp Friday today with clickie links.
Bandcamp Friday is today. John Serrano has a new one. He’s a talented mofo. I hope you check it out. I like Filthy McGreedy too for honest protest vibes. JJ Lovegrove does amazing things with great sounds and her terrific voice. I produced a Brian Jin song out today. It’s called “Letters.” I like working with him in St Louis. He’s fun to talk to. He’s got great insight into music. I like the guy.
I also ran across Voodoo Planet again recently and I just love their taste and sensibilities. It’s almost like listening to home.
It’s time to graduate. Instead of touring another high school, give the world a shot. I think you’re ready. I’ll be here, rooting for you. Also, I might need ya for a song.
return to home

My Djembe Funk project came out with an acoustic jam. IF you need that, it’s totally free on Bandcamp. Enjoy. Take care.
