BandCamp Friday Recs. (Friday Vibes.)

vinyl music records with labels
Record Store Day is nothing compared to the Bandcamp Fridays around here.

It’s rough out there. No lie.

BandCamp Friday is a thing. It’s tough navigating if you’re a fan of indie music. It seems like national email from a musician you know day. It kind of is.

I love indie musicians and I love Bandcamp. But BandCamp Friday isn’t my favorite horse in the race. I almost feel bad for putting our stuff out there because I want other folks to feel successful too. But the system at the moment is pit of vipers style. Whatever.

I’ve found some bands and folks I like. Let me introduce a few if you don’t know them. Then I’ll put our codes and deals at the end. None of our stuff costs money. So if you’re low energy by the time you make it to us, that’s okay. You’re not making a financial decision with us.

Granada (featuring Zurdeik) by Ultimate Rick Jones.

John Serrano wrote one and URJ interpreted and Zurdeik sounds amazing. I love collaborations and this is a great one. I made a song with URJ before. I’d do it again. I love John Serrano and Zurdeik too. All great stuff.

Rodney Owl – Making Trouble.

Rodney Owl is a phenomenal sounding psychedelic folk kind of thing. I think about Gerry Rafferty and acid and chords out of nowhere that hit like a ton of bricks. All great. Check out Rodney.

Don’t You Want Me.. 80s kids/Shannon Curtis

Friends of mine from Tacoma, Washington, 80’s Kids are real deal musicians and performers. Their merch section is bling. Their music is new and nostalgic. Their vibe is positive. I could go on and on about them. But they’re good people, they make great music. That’s the gist

Song For a Gorgeous Blonde

Dino Dimuro has his hands in a project from Sweden. One thing I like about their artwork is the model they use sometimes. If you’ve ever tried to find free pictures, you’ve likely run across her. Fun times. This band is loaded with unpredictable jams and delicious attitude.

Seasons Beatings – Judy Blank

As a guitar player, the reverb on Feliz Navidad is a treat. Digging Christmas music this year. Judy Blank has this to offer. It is hard to think of Christmas music I like more than this at the moment. It’s rock. It’s Christmas. It’s flawless. Good Christmas shit here. I’m into it.

Alison Reynolds – Cut Me Loose

I love the multi-instrumental crafting and writing of Alison Reynolds. I think this song is great! One thing about Alison, since I’ve known about her she’s worked at various things to make her sound unique to her and her arrangement skill is at a very high level. She’s got loads of musical ability and a knack for writing. Always fun.

Elly Case – Gaslight.

I just discovered Elly Case with this song. Described on BandCamp as NeoClassical. I wouldn’t have thought that just from this song but it makes a lot of sense in the larger context of work. Good stuff here in more ways than melody and performance. Messages are woven in this thing that hit me.

Boots on the Ground (free code).

Boots on the Ground Free Code from Get Music is available. It includes the songs “Pill Party” and “Chosen.” Here’s a lyric video for “Chosen,” see if you dig. It’s about an ICE agent. We aren’t kind to ICE because they suck.

Djembe Funk with 2 new jams

Djembe Funk – 420 Jam

I made a thing recently I like. Used Logic Pro’s stock horns. Played bass and some guitar. Played with Logic Pro. Took time. Threw it up on YouTube. Enjoy!

If you are a band that feels forgotten or left out from this, sorry about that. I went down my emails l like until I had 5 or 6. Wasn’t like a countdown or anything. Love you. Feel free to send me news about what I missed. [email protected]

Music promo is hard. I love so many bands. I feel like folks who read me might be interested in indie bands I listen to. This is just some of that. Hope you enjoy.

Djembe Funk – Sad Little Monster

I made this one and improvised on vocals. It reminded me of the monsters on Sesame Street. I like those monsters. So I just rolled with it. Enjoy.

I hope you check out some indie music today. It doesn’t have to be me or anyone I know. You do amazing by checking out your friends and family with music on bandcamp too. Thanks for helping us “celebrate.” Take care.
