Sadie looks straight up in the air when you scratch a certain spot on her neck. I love that.

Birthday Entry

The air conditioner at the house has been replaced after weeks of no A/C. And now it’s my birthday. I just want to play the djembe drum. I get to do that, so it’s going to be an awesome day.

I’d rather have steak than cake.. can we make that happen?

Talent and Work.

I talked to a fellow yesterday who tried to convince me talent is a myth. It’s all about how hard you work or how well you think. I wish folks wouldn’t tell me stuff they make up. Going to need sources, and you guessed it, I couldn’t find any.

Maybe you have never had the privilege of seeing a child prodigy. I have recorded a few of them. Played a show with one. I hate to burst any bubbles out there, but no matter how much I practice, I won’t be as good as they are. Depressing I know. Why? Because some folks are born with music in their blood. I think that’s a good thing. Apparently some folks think it’s not.

I turn 48 today. Thank ye, Thank ye.

I love.. work?

Talent is important in music. It may not be everything to a cover band doing weekend warrior tunes on BandCamp. But it means a hell of a lot to the folks who get to listen and watch.

Do me a favor and watch something as old and simple as The Marx bros. If you don’t see talent, I don’t know what you’re looking at.

Lucille Ball said she wasn’t talented, she didn’t believe in it. She just rehearsed a lot. Oh, Lucy, is it you who started this nonsense? You were obviously mega-talented. Jeebus.

Lucille Ball was a tremendous talent, even if she didn’t think so.

Own it.

Folks think work is the most important aspect of entertainment. At least, folks without talent do.

I am talented. Not afraid or ashamed to admit it. I’ve always had a knack for putting music together. I’m not a great performer. I’m not solid on all the instruments. But I enjoy putting everything together. I’ve been paid for that and commercials, themes, lyrics, and certain instruments. It’s okay if I’m talented. Not scared.

Happy my birthday to you, you talented mofos.

Me and Sadie, snuggling on sofa

I am Kelly Kintner and I love my wife, my dog, and music. In that order. That’s about everything too. Oh….food. duh.

I hope next time you watch or listen to entertainers you can show your friends how easy it is.
